Greenfield being commissioned as a Captain in 1966 at Loring Air Force base in Limestone Maine. He graduated from Blair Academy, but the article says he was born in Hackensack in 1940 and he may have attended elementary school in Hackensack. 

Dr. John W. Greenfield has a lot of connections throughout the area, including longtime membership to the Hackensack Golf Club. His mother was (nee Van Saun) a name that runs deep in Bergen County history.
